Why train with Surrey Wildlife Trust?

Our trainers are highly experienced providers of environmental education, with whom nature and wildlife is always a central element of their life.  They have delivered Forest School programmes to children of all ages and abilities within schools, nurseries, youth and community groups throughout Surrey and hold a range of qualifications between them as qualified Teachers, Forest School Trainers, Level 3 Forest School Leaders and Outdoor Learning Officers.  All our trainers are Outdoor First Aid qualified.  Our training courses are nationally recognised qualifications accredited by the Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM) and the Institute for Outdoor Learning.  We also hold a Learning Outside the Classroom Quality Badge.

Forest School Training Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications

Forest School is different from most other forms of 'environmental education' in that it involves regular sessions in the same woods, in a natural environment and the activities are mainly determined by the children and are predominately play based.  Sessions are designed to stimulate imagination, creativity and investigation via activities such as woodwork using tools, shelter building and natural art.

Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders this initial 5 day course followed by 2 days of further skills and assessment is designed for the learner to become a qualified Forest School Leader, able to set up and run a Forest School programme.  You will learn how to facilitate groups in a learner-centred way and how to manage a Forest School site sustainably.  It also covers the practical skills required of a Forest School practitioner.  You do not need a Level 2 in order to complete a Level 3 qualification.

Level 2 Award for Forest School Assistants this 4 day course is designed for the learner to become a qualified Forest School Assistant, enabling them to take a pro-active role in helping a Forest School Leader plan and deliver a Forest School programme and supporting the learners.

L2 to Level 3 Top Up Course this 4 day top up course is designed for those already with a Forest School Level 2 Assistant qualification who wish to Top Up to a Level 3 Forest School Leader qualification.

Please download our Forest School School Training Guide below for more information, pricing and course requirements.
