Opportunities:

We are looking for about 5 new recruits to join this awesome group of young people.  You can find out about the existing members here.

As well as "General Officers" who can get involved with all aspects of the committee's work we would also like two people to join us as our "YAC Events Officer" and "YAC Fundraising Officer".  These roles have a bit more responsibility and include working with the Co-Chairs, Josie and Ness:

YAC Fundraising Officer - help the committee to find sources of funding to help us run events, workshops and talks

YAC Events Officer - work with committee to plan and deliver events designed to engage young people with Surrey's nature

Both of these roles would be supported by the whole of the Youth Action Committee, and SWT staff.

How does it work?

By becoming a member of the Youth Action Committee you will commit to:

  • Register as a SWT volunteer
  • Attend monthly online meetings
  • Represent young people’s voices and opinions
  • Reach out to your local communities and engage them within our work
  • Be kind and respect all values and opinions
  • Be prepared to dedicate time to taking part in Youth Action Committee activities
  • Be professional and at times respect confidentiality
  • Be a member of the Youth Action Committee until August 2024

We do not expect knowledge of nature, climate or conservation to be on our Youth Action Committee - only the passion to learn and take part in activities to help nature.

We would like the committee to be as diverse as Surrey’s nature and welcome applications from anyone with a passion for nature and wildlife!
