Are you sometimes disappointed with your landscape photos? Do your images fail to capture the feel and beauty of the scene as you remember it? This class will teach you the basic techniques for improving your photography when taking landscape pictures in the woods, including; composition rules, when to get the best light and which filters and other equipment to use.

The day will be a mixture of class based presentations and practical work outdoors, in a woodland setting, putting the theory into practice. Your tutor, Vanessa Lees is keen to pass on her enthusiasm and to help you develop your eye while inspiring you to reach new creative heights in your image-making.

• Quality and direction of light
• Camera settings for landscapes
• How to use polarising and graduated filters

Tutor Profile – Vanessa Lees

After many years of working as an IT and Business professional, I decided to follow my passion and retrain as a professional photographer, gaining a first class BA(Hons) degree in Photography from the University of West London in June 2015. I had been a photographer, in my spare time, for many years but I wanted a more formal qualification and an opportunity to be in an environment which would enable and encourage me to be more experimental and creative in my work.

Although portraiture and event photography is one of my specialist areas, fortunately I have been able to marry up my passion for photography with my obsession for travel and exploring the world. Travel photography has become an increasing part of my work and I undertake several trips a year to work on landscapes, travel portraits and personal projects.

I also teach photography to adults and children, either on a 1-1 basis or in groups. I really enjoy teaching and seeing people develop their skills and confidence. I’m very enthusiastic about my craft and encourage my classes to break the rules and get more creative in their work.
