Plantly is a visually impressive mindfulness game which will provide players with a virtual gardening experience. The app’s primary goal is to encourage users to learn about different plant species, their characteristics, habitats, and the value they bring to the environment. Surrey Wildlife Trust are providing expert species knowledge to ensure the app is an informative tool for raising public awareness of plant conservation.
The game features the endangered Green Hound’s-tongue (Cynoglossum germanicum), a biennial or short-lived perennial plant found in the south of England. This rare herb has a distinctive shape, with hidden florets nestled within its red flowers. Unfortunately, habitat destruction has led to the decline of this native species, which is now classed as ‘Near Threatened’. With Plantly, users will be able to cultivate, nurture and learn more about this spectacular species.
