Community Champions

We love to celebrate your achievements, and the Community Champions Awards is designed to do just that!

What is Community Champions?

Community Champion awards highlight the incredible work being done throughout the county by community groups, and this work is all to help the biodiversity and wildlife in Surrey.

So if you know a group making a difference to our natural world, here is more information about the awards.

Who can participate?

The awards can be for any group that is taking action for nature from the Emerging Talent category, which is for groups just getting started on their journey into action for nature, to the High-Flyers category, which has a thriving wildlife action group and between the two there’s also an option for groups that aren’t entirely new like our Emerging Talent but not as established as a High-Flyer, these are our Rising Stars.

What would the groups gain?

We not only want to highlight the award winners, but everyone that gets nominated can come along to our celebratory event at West Horsley Place on 3rd August.

The shortlisted groups will get a visit from a member of the Surrey Wildlife Trust team to discuss your nomination and see the hard work you’ve been putting into your projects. This also gives an excellent opportunity for you to receive feedback on your projects!

The selected awardees will get a member of our skilled team to come to the site to do a walk-over so we can give some tailored guidance and recommendations to help them enhance their project. Also, awardees get recognition at the event with a certificate and an article about their project in the Surrey Nature Magazine. The awardee will also get their achievements shared on the community champions webpage!
