About Wild Work Days
Our Wild Work Days offer your employees a rewarding outdoor experience that is guaranteed to:
- Help the local wildlife
- Improve the physical and mental wellbeing of your employees
- Develop team building skills
- Enhance staff performance
Our Wild Work Days take place on a number of our nature reserves across Surrey and are primarily available from the beginning of September to the end of March, although do occur less frequently year-round.
Activities for the day may include
✓ Clearing scrub and having a bonfire to restore rare chalk-downland and heathland |
✓ Woodland management such as coppicing hazel to enhance dormouse habitat |
✓ Removal of problem plant species such as rhododendron to improve native biodiversity |
✓ Join us on the farm to help with fence removal to enable conservation grazing |
No experience necessary!
We provide an experienced member of staff to run the day, all tools, training, refreshments and Health & Safety expertise, so all you have to do is turn up and have fun.
Pricing
For groups of up to 30 people, the cost is £100 per person, per day +Vat (with a minimum charge of £1,000+vat)
For groups of more than 30 people, please contact us for a quote.
Don't have a budget?
If your team doesn't have a budget, why not consider fundraising to cover the costs of participating through a fundraising event or sponsored activity? For Surrey-based SMEs with no budget it's also possible to participate (up to five staff) in a regular practical conservation day.

The cost of stress
As our physical health improves with advances in medicine, our ability to cope with our mental anxieties seems to be faring less well. This can have an impact both at home and at work.
According to mental health charity, Mind:
- 25% of us suffer from depression and/or anxiety in any given week.
- 15% of us experience a mental health issue at work every year.
Volunteering through work
Most companies are switched on to the benefits of volunteering in the community. An independent review carried out by the University of Essex has found that 95% of Wildlife Trust volunteers with low wellbeing reported an improvement within six weeks of involvement with their Wildlife Trust.
We always have opportunities for small numbers of staff to join our existing volunteers and engage in practical tasks around the county throughout the year. We are also able to organise larger team days for you.
Surrey Wildlife Trust were brilliant in hosting a Wild Work Day for 82 of our staff and were outstanding in explaining why we were removing invasive species to restore the heathland. This was a marvellous opportunity for Nikon to give back to the community while providing a team-building activity for our people.Nikon
The feedback has been great! The team really enjoyed their day and loved the SWT team’s knowledge and enthusiasm. The mud didn’t deter spirits and we all feel very accomplished in the hedgerows we planted. We are all looking forward to the next event with Surrey Wildlife Trust.Kia UK
