About the event

Join our free course for young people (16-30) and discover why and how to accurately survey and record a variety of species.

Monitoring the species living in a specific area has always been important, but as our climate changes it has become even more vital to understand the development of these life cycles. We have therefore created this course for those that are intrested in monitoring and recording species.

You will be taught how to accurately collect data through surveys to create a base line. From this you will be shown how to capture and record that information which will help to determine the status of a species.

There are a host of different techniques used when surveying. Therefore, on this beginners’ course we will be concentrating on just three of them;. Each delegate will have the chance to collect data using each of these methods.

Guidance and instruction will then be provided on how to record and use this information effectively.

This course is part of the AQA unit award scheme and attendees will be rewarded with a certificate at the course leads approval. You will earn a certificate in surveying wildlife. 🌸

This event is part of our Youth Action for Nature programme, which is designed to create more opportunities for young people with an interest in wildlife and nature. All events in this programme are free for young people.

Please note there is no bus service to Nower Wood from Leatherhead train station. We will offer lifts from the station, please request this on the order form. There is a discretionary fund to help cover travel costs if you require any support.
