About the event

Discover the reasons why the North Downs remained open grassland for centuries and learn how the chalk soils influence both the plants and animals found there. Our tutor, Paul Ritchie,  will then take you through the chalk valley of Headley Heath bringing alive the story of a landscape that stretches from Farnham in the west to Dover in the east.

We will start with a classroom session at the Nower Wood educational Nature Reserve before walking to Headley Heath.  Please plan to gently walk for an hour or so. There is a path but it can be uneven in places.

This is part 3 of the Habitats of Surrey - Summer Series. Throughout these 5 weeks, we will investigate how Surrey has evolved into a richly diverse cluster of habitats. Each course can be booked individually.  However, join us for all five morning sessions and receive a £20 voucher that can be used when purchasing any future Adult Learning course (Ts & Cs apply).
