About the reserve

White Downs forms part of the Wotton Estate and open to the public by agreement between the Evelyn family and Surrey County Council. It is managed by Surrey Wildlife Trust and The National Trust.

Designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest due to its abundance of rare and beautiful fauna and flora, White Downs comprises of areas of chalk grassland and mixed woodland, including one of the largest bluebell woods on the North Downs. There are magnificent views across to Leith Hill and Holmbury Hill on the Greensand Ridge.
