Activities are led by one of Surrey Wildlife Trust’s Voluntary Wardens - Nick Green - and take place at Brentmoor Heath once a month.
Time commitment:
Flexible. Attend as often or as little as you like.
Monthly on a Sunday morning. The first Sunday of the month.
Days run from 10am until 12pm.
A taster session for the group will take place on Sunday 5th July. Nick will lead a walk around the site to show areas that volunteers have previously worked on, as well as some of the target areas that the group will work to change over the next few months! If you are local why not join us?
Locations:
This opportunity is based at Brentmoor Heath.
The meeting point is the junction of Birch Lane and Broad Street.
Bring sensible footwear, waterproofs, sunscreen and a drink, plus work gloves if you have them.
What’s involved:
- Heathland management
- Clearing scrub and invasive plant species
- Path and fencing maintenance
- Creating habitat for rare heathland specialist species
Everything is explained on the day, with safety and tool briefings provided.
Skills and experience:
No previous experience is needed. Activities are outdoors and can involve uneven or steep slopes, so volunteers should be comfortable with moderate physical activity.

To take part, you’ll need to register as a volunteer. Once registered, you’ll receive a weekly email with upcoming sessions and details on how to book your place.
Age guidance:
- Volunteers under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian (who must also register as a volunteer).
- Volunteers aged 16/17 can attend unaccompanied but must complete a parent/guardian consent form before taking part.
