Holiday club activities in Surrey with a wild twist

Wild Explorers Holiday Club is the perfect place to embark on adventures, forge friendships and turn school holidays into lifelong memories!

Immerse your child in nature!

Jam-packed with different wildlife-themed activities, our holiday club events give your children the opportunity to explore the wonderful woodland habitats of our private nature reserve under the guidance of our experienced staff. Following the huge success of our 2017 summer club, we are adding extra half term dates this year and extending our summer programme!

Suitable for ages 5-12

Take part in activities such as campfire cooking, pond dipping, orienteering, shelter building, fire lighting and much more besides!

Important information

The club runs from 9.30am-4pm and booking is essential.

Please bring a packed lunch, waterproofs and suitable shoes for exploring the woods.

Although adults are encouraged to drop their children off, due to staffing limitations if your child requires 1:1 assistance at school you will need to provide an accompanying adult for the event. If your child has any other particular needs, please do get in touch so we can discuss how best to meet these before booking.

About the week

This year we are expanding our holiday club to the first three weeks of August. Each week we will run four days of activities, Monday to Thursday and these will be repeated on the same day each week.

Monday: Exploration - We will welcome to you to Nower Wood with a day of exploration! Learn how to navigate your way around the woods and then we might test our skills through orienteering and games. We will also explore the different habitats of Nower Wood and the types of trees that we can find. I hope you're ready for a challenge!

Tuesday: Discovery - Today we will discover the huge array of life to be found in our wood. We will delve into the pond, sweep through the grass, shake the trees and lift the logs to find all the different types of creatures that live here. We might even use some small mammal traps to try our luck at catching some mice or voles around the centre.

Wednesday: Survival - Having crash landed in the wild woods, we must learn to survive on our own. We will learn how to communicate over long distances, build a shelter from the elements, light a fire safely and maybe even toast a marshmallow or two!

Thursday: Adventure - To round off the week we will adventure through time and immerse ourselves in the history of the wood meeting characters, hearing stories and getting stuck in with games and challenges. Get messy and make some cave paintings, become a Roman potter and play with clay, and if you're lucky there might be some rustic recipes to cook over the open fire too!

Every Day: To finish each day we will head to our Forest School area where we will have some free time to spend with our new friends as we wish. There will be a range of games on offer, as well as creative projects which can be done over the course of the week for those who come for more than a day.

My daughter loved the Wild Explorers week at Nower Wood. She came home smelling of smoke, dirty faced and proudly displaying her pom-pom caterpillar. Couldn’t stop talking about all the things she’s learnt, done and eaten!
