Surrey Wildlife Trust is proud to partner with Naturcontact Barefoot Shoes through their 1% for Nature initiative, a pledge to support projects that make a real difference for wildlife and habitats. Through this partnership, a portion of Naturcontact’s sales contributes directly to the protection and restoration of Surrey’s rare lowland heathlands, one of the UK’s most fragile and biodiverse habitats. 

Lowland heathlands are home to unique and threatened species such as the Sand Lizard, Smooth Snake, and Dartford Darbler. These habitats are not only beautiful but also critically important for biodiversity. With support from Naturcontact, Surrey Wildlife Trust is able to manage and restore these landscapes, giving wildlife a chance to survive and thrive in areas where they would otherwise be at risk. 

Beyond safeguarding wildlife, the partnership also helps enhance ecosystem health more broadly. Restoration work strengthens soils, improves water quality, and reconnects fragmented habitats, creating corridors that allow wildlife to move safely and build more resilient populations. This work contributes to healthier landscapes that benefit both nature and people.
