About the reserve

A large area of rare, unimproved, species-rich wet grassland, Brookwood Lye is situated east of Brookwood, on the south side of the Basingstoke Canal.

The reserve is traversed by ditches and features alder carr, broadleaved woodland, willow and oak trees.

Wet conditions make the reserve valuable for wetland invertebrates such as dragonflies and many birds flock to the site.
