Hedgerow Heritage Film Competition - Terms & Conditions

Terms & Conditions

The competition is being organised and run by Surrey Wildlife Trust (School Lane, Pirbright, Woking, Surrey GU24 0JN) in collaboration with University for the Creative Arts (Falkner Rd, Farnham GU9 7DS).

Eligibility

The competition is open to all students currently enrolled at the University for the Creative Arts, Farnham. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are welcome to enter the competition.

Process of Entry

The competition opens at 12pm on Friday 9th February 2024.

The deadline for the initial written film proposal is 5pm on Friday 8th March 2024. Entries after this deadline will not be considered.

All entries must be submitted to Billie Pearce - Digital Marketing Executive at Surrey Wildlife Trust - at billie.pearce@surreywt.org.uk.

Competition entrants will be provided with further information regarding additional competition deadlines following the submission of their initial film proposal. The competition will be judged by representatives from Surrey Wildlife Trust.

The Prize

Winning entrants will receive a cash prize of £1000 from Surrey Wildlife Trust. Second place entrants will receive a cash prize of £500, and third place entrants will receive a cash prize of £200.

Announcing the Winner

The winners will be announced in May 2024 (TBC).

By entering the competition, entrants agree to allow Surrey Wildlife Trust, The Wildlife Trusts and the Heritage Lottery Fund to broadcast their films across all platforms, online, at their sites, within promotional materials, and at events.

Heritage Lottery Fund

The competition is being funding by the Heritage Lottery Fund. By entering the competition, you are agreeing to the HLF Digital Policy. You agree to:

  1. hereby grant to us an irrevocable, perpetual and royalty-free licence to use, copy, keep and disseminate the Digital Outputs as we see fit and to grant sub-licences of the same kind;
  2. obtain and maintain in force all authorisations of any kind required for you to use, copy, keep and disseminate the Digital Outputs and to grant such licence to us;
  3. contract to the effect that any creation by you or on your behalf of material which forms Digital Outputs is undertaken on terms that either the copyright in the digital material is assigned to you or that the copyright owner may not commercially exploit it;
  4. ensure that the Digital Outputs are kept up-to-date, function as intended and do not become obsolescent before the fifth anniversary of the completion of the Project;
  5. comply with these terms of grant in relation to the digital files that make up the Digital Outputs for the period agreed in the Grant Notification Letter. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes ensuring that the digital files are held securely and are available on request to the public and to us;
  6. grant licences in respect of the Digital Outputs under the Creative Commons model licence Attribution Non-Commercial but not on other terms without our prior written consent;
  7. not otherwise exploit the Digital Outputs commercially without our prior written consent.
