About the event

All Trust events and activities will be carried out in line with current government guidelines and Health & Safety practices at that time.  We ask that you check regularly on the website for updates as any of these events may be subject to change or cancellation.

Please help to protect our staff and other members by not attending any of these events if you or anyone in your household is feeling ill or have symptoms of Covid-19.

This 2 day (16hr) Remote Emergency Care Outdoor First Aid training is aimed at those who work or play in the outdoors with adults and/or children, and may have to deal with first aid incidents when at a distance from emergency services.

There will be a strong emphasis on practical skills with plenty of hands-on activities to help deal with a broad range of outdoor scenarios. You will receive a certificate confirming your Outdoor (REC) First Aid Level 2 qualification upon completion. Spaces are limited, booking is essential.

The course covers the following for both adults and paediatrics:

  • Accident Procedures: essential life saving systems for assessing and treating unconscious casualties.
  • Resuscitation and choking: applying the latest protocols to deal with non-breathing casualties.
  • Bleeding: look at dealing with major bleeds.
  • Major Injuries: head, chest, limbs and spine.
  • Insulate and Shelter: managing your casualty until help arrives.

This training course conforms to the requirements of the MLTUK, BCU, RYA and other outdoor governing bodies. We focus on dealing with incidents far from medical help with the minimal equipment you would carry while participating in, or leading outdoor activities with adults and children. Again the emphasis is on practical skills with plenty of hands-on practice including lots of outdoor scenarios.

The course will provide vital first aid essentials such as CPR and Accident Procedures and consider the practicalities of these protocols in the outdoors.  Outdoor first aid training covers the core skills of first aid applied in the outdoors whilst also looking at major injuries such as broken bones, head and spinal injuries and hypo and hyperthermia.
