Join Ben Siggery, freshwater ecologist to look at what happens to ponds and lakes in the winter, and the effects of ice on the wildlife residing in them. We will also discuss the importance of lake ice as a climate record and how climate change may impact freshwater wildlife as waterbodies stop freezing over in winter.

About Ben

Ben is a freshwater ecologist who studied MSc Aquatic Conservation, Ecology and Restoration at UCL. He works as an education officer and GIS analyst for Surrey Wildlife Trust, so splits his time between pond dipping with school groups and mapping Surrey’s habitats. He is currently working with colleagues at UCL to publish a paper about the benefits of pond restoration in agricultural landscapes.
