Wild Rangers Conservation Club
About the event
Perfect for 10-17 year olds who wild about the outdoors! Spend the day discovering the animals that live in Nower Wood through a series of fun and engaging activities.
In the morning we will learn to set live traps for mice, voles and shrews and examine our catch before releasing them safely back in the woods.
Through this fun and engaging activity, children will learn about our native mammals and how we survey for them to measure population and habitat conditions.
In the afternoon, we'll go dipping in our beautiful woodland pond and examine the many creatures we find with magnifying glasses and ID sheets by carrying out an invertebrate survey. We bet they've never seen a water stick insect or freshwater leech before!
At the end of the day, children can choose from a range of engaging bushcraft activities. They could try their hand at whittling with knives, shelter building or other fun activities and finish with a snack around a campfire they've built and lit themselves.
