Wild Rangers Conservation Club
About the event
Are your teens wild about the outdoors? Give them the chance to become a woodland manager for a day and help us to manage our ancient woodland getting stuck in with conservation tasks. We will also learn some tool skills, whittling with a knife and lighting fires.
We will show you how to use the tools safely before you try your hand at tree felling, holly clearance and coppicing - whatever the ranger's tasks are for the day! We will end the day around the campfire with hot chocolate and knife skills.
This event is suitable for 11-17 year olds and booking is essential. You'll need to wear appropriate warm outdoor clothing and strong boots for working in the woods. You'll also need to bring a packed lunch and a snack, and please note we are a nut-free centre, so avoid food containing nuts. Drop off is at 9:30am and pick up will be at 4pm, so please arrive promptly so we can get straight out and on with the day!
Although adults are encouraged to drop their children off, due to staffing limitations if your child requires 1:1 assistance at school you will need to provide an accompanying adult for the event. If your child has any other particular needs, please do get in touch so we can discuss how best to meet these before booking.
