Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders training course, Leatherhead

Learn how to establish and deliver your own Forest School programme. This course enables you to gain a nationally recognised qualification to lead Forest School activities. The modular course dates are Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October and Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th and Monday 11th November 2019 (5 days).

About the event

Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders is accredited by Open College Network West Midlands (OCNWM) and the Institute for Outdoor Learning.  This course enables you to gain a nationally recognised qualification to lead Forest School activities.

The Level 3 Certificate for Forest School Leaders course covers the following:

✓ How to safely establish & deliver a Forest School programme, including planning and running your forest school, policies and procedures, risk assessment and session planning.

✓ The theories of learning and development and background to forest schools.

✓ Practice the skills to help children learn and develop in a woodland environment, including fire-lighting, tool use, games, arts and crafts, identification and use of woodland resources

✓ How to look after and manage your woodland site

Course dates : (5 days) Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th October and Saturday 9th, Sunday 10th and Monday 11th November 2019, followed by a skills weekend on 28th & 29th March 2020 (location TBC).

  • 5 day initial training course covering the OCNWM units. 
  • Skills weekend - 2 days assessing and consolidating ideas.
  • Portfolio advice and assessment.
  • Mentoring days - regular face to face opportunity to receive advice on your portfolio work.

Booking is essential, total course fee is £950.00.  A £200 deposit is required to confirm a place on the course
