About the event

The landscape of the Thames Basin Lowlands features wood pastures and great parks dominated by huge ancient trees that are the result of centuries of pollarding and grazing livestock and deer. We will visit Ashtead Common National Nature Reserve near Leatherhead to help uncover how geology, humans and animals have moulded the landscape to benefit wildlife and people.

Your tutor, Paul Ritchie, will begin with a classroom session before taking you out onto the common.

There is easy access via train.  Nearest station is Ashtead.

This is part 4 of the Habitats of Surrey - Summer Series. Throughout these 5 weeks, we will investigate how Surrey has evolved into a richly diverse cluster of habitats. Each course can be booked individually.  However, join us for all five morning sessions and receive a £20 voucher that can be used when purchasing any future Adult Learning course (Ts & Cs apply).
