Saying Yes to No Mow May: Week 2

Week two of Zoe's No Mow May challenge

I’ve got a little out of kilter with my weeks on No Mow May due to a longer than planned hospital stay. Technically this is week 2, however I’ve sort of missed week 1. Anyway it doesn’t matter. I’ve been worried about the temperatures and the effect that will have on growing but there is nothing any of us can do about that and it’s all certainly getting watered……..

When I returned home I gleefully walked down the garden path expecting to see a wild waving field of joy, I should have managed my expectations better really, as it looked mostly like I’d left it but a bit longer. Should have done no Mow April too, however but I guess that’s not the point. The swifts have arrived though so that cheered me up no end, their screaming and swirling forever the sign of summer.

Anyway the next day (when it wasn’t raining!) I went out scouting around and actually quite a bit is coming through! I downloaded the Seek App too to help me along with some of the ID. I know Plantlife don’t ask you to ID things however I really want to use this as a learning exercise. Initial sightings are……Dandelion, Violets, Daisy, Ragwort leaves, Clover leaves, Ribwort Plantain leaves and I’m going to say the leaves of Orange Hawkweed, however I’m not totally sure on that, time will tell on that one.

Just goes to show that you can look at your lawn from afar and think there is nothing there but grass when a wealth of flowers are just waiting to grow.

Roll on week 3!
