Undersea Explorers is an exciting new marine awareness program.

Stimulating games and activities raise awareness of the marine environment

Undersea Explorers is an exciting new marine awareness program. Its aim is to promote awareness of the UK’s fantastic undersea landscapes and wildlife, to school children and family groups, during a practical session in a swimming pool.

Originally conceived by Yorkshire Wildlife Trust, this concept is being rolled out across many other Trusts around the UK and we will be working closely in partnership with neighboring Trusts to develop this further.

By simulating the marine environment with underwater props children are able to learn about the sea through fun marine based games, in the safety of a swimming pool. Stimulating games and activities raise awareness of the marine environment and promote its protection through a greater level of understanding.

School sessions link closely with the National Curriculum through themes such as species identification, food webs, animal adaptation and marine conservation.

Additional benefits include teamwork, building confidence in the water and learning basic snorkel skills. Family sessions also provide a great opportunity for parents and children to work together and have fun!

All staff are fully trained BSAC snorkel instructors.

Schools with their own (or access to) swimming pools are able to book this session. Please contact Outreach@surreywt.org.uk for more information.

Our next public Undersea Explorers session will take place during National Marine Week 2018, so please keep an eye on the What's On page for more details.
