The Youth Action Committee (YAC) is a small but growing group of people (16-30) who are passionate about nature and want to help inspire and empower other young people across Surrey to take action for wildlife.
We are currently looking for around five new members to join the committee and help shape Surrey Wildlife Trust’s youth‑led work.
As a member of the Youth Action Committee, you’ll help represent the youth voice in Surrey and support activities that encourage people to get involved in protecting nature.

Time commitment:
- You will need to be willing to attend monthly online meetings
- Be willing to dedicate some additional time to Youth Action events between meetings
Locations:
- Meetings are held online
- Activities and events take place at locations across Surrey
What’s involved:
- Representing the views and ideas of young people within Surrey Wildlife Trust
- Reaching out to local communities and helping engage young people in our work
- Working together with other committee members and SWT staff on youth‑led projects and activities
In addition to general committee members, we would love to hear from people interested in Communications, Events & Community Organising.
Skills and experience:
You don’t need prior knowledge of conservation, climate or wildlife to join the Youth Action Committee.
We’re looking for young people who:
- Are enthusiastic and curious about nature
- Want to learn, share ideas and take part
- Are keen to work with others and make a positive difference
By volunteering, you could:
- Develop personal skills which you can add to your CV or university application
- Meet and socialise with other like-minded young people
- Meet and network with Surrey Wildlife Trust staff and other conservation professionals
- Gain vital skills in conservation, public speaking, event planning, teamwork, social media, writing & more.
- Access to a whole host of opportunities to help you grow as an individual while also helping nature and the planet.

Age guidance:
The Youth Action Committee is open to people aged 16-30. Volunteers aged 16/17 are welcome to join the YAC, but must complete a parent/guardian consent form before taking part.
