Hedgehogs used to be a familiar and well-loved visitor to our gardens, but with a startling 95% decline since the 1950's, and a continued decline of 30-40% over recent years, will the hedgehog still be around to surprise and delight our children and our children's children?

Steeped in nostalgia, the humble hedgehog is a creature which brings back fond memories for many of us, so is it then surprising to realise that hedgehogs are undergoing an unprecedented decline, with some experts recently warning of possible extinction within ten years?

Do you remember when you last had the pleasure of seeing a hedgehog in your garden? If you have, then you’re one of the lucky ones as only one in five of us have seen a hedgehog in our gardens, and only a quarter of those see them frequently!

Disappearing as fast as the tiger, but much more quietly, the humble hedgehog is under threat right on our doorsteps. And the most important thing we can do right now is gather more information - the more we know, the more we can do!

So, have you seen a hedgehog, dead or alive? Please let us know.
