The Forest School Association (FSA) is the professional body and dedicated voice for Forest School within the UK. It is devoted to promoting quality Forest School for all.

On 7th July 2012 the Forest School Association (FSA) was launched at Elvaston Castle in Derbyshire as the new professional association for Forest School and the governing body for training. Directors were duly elected and the work of the FSA began! In November 2012 the first development officer was appointed, initially for one year.

FSA works to increase opportunities for people to experience quality Forest School in the UK. As a democratic membership organisation, FSA works together with national and local organisations and individuals to provide a central point for collecting, storing and sharing information about Forest School and good practice in Forest School.

SWT is one of the organisations that has been very supportive in the establishment of the FSA. We are working closely with the Association to promote high quality Forest School practice in Surrey.

SWT has helped establish Surrey FSA affiliated group which is the first recognised official FSA branch in the country! It's where forest school practitioners can meet regularly to share good practice, promote forest schools and provide support to each other.

To run Surrey FSA a committee was formed with participants coming from a variety of backgrounds, including nurseries, SWT, several local Forest School companies and representatives from Surrey County Council. That committee has organised several successful 'gatherings' as well working behind the scenes to promote Forest School across the county.

The elected committe organises two 'gatherings' each year in June and October.  Anyone who is engaged in Forest School activities within the county are welcome to attend the day's event which includes networking and practical skills opportunities. If you are a Forest School practitioner you might like to consider becoming a member of FSA. For further information about the Association and its membership click here.
