New Nature-Based Solutions prospectus offers practical help for landowners and land managers

With the effects of the climate and nature crisis becoming more apparent every year, landowners and land managers are on the front line.  Unpredictable weather and increasing pollution, floods and drought can impose huge costs not just on nature, but on every part of society and every type of business, from farms to sports facilities.

At Surrey Wildlife Trust, we believe that working with, and not against nature and boosting biodiversity are the only ways to minimise, meet and mitigate these challenges – and our Nature-Based Solutions team is on hand to help provide advice on managing land in a way that can help to increase resilience, providing long-term benefits for landowners as well as for nature.

Our new Prospectus sets out how we can work with you to maximise the opportunities offered by green finance including Biodiversity Net Gain and Natural Capital assessments (delivered in partnership with our Ecology Services team), develop land management plans and identify changes that could benefit biodiversity on your land.

We can also connect you to other landowners and sources of help around funding and investment. Landowners we work with across Surrey include private landowners, farmers, smallholders, golf courses, larger estates, schools, community groups, churches, Parish Councils and more. Every landholding is unique, and we build lasting long-term relationships to ensure advice and support is tailored directly to individual circumstances.

Find out more about our services and read case studies here. You can contact the nature-based solutions team by emailing nbs@surreywt.org.uk

For people seeking a short introduction to the concept of Nature-Based Solutions, we’ve also now published short leaflets for landowners and community groups and Parish Councils
