Members Event & Annual General Meeting 2012
Newlands sunrise c.Craig Denford
Saturday 17th November 2012
10.00am - 1.15pm
The day will include highlights of the past year, a summary of accounts, three short talks about current SWT projects, wildlife gifts sale and refreshments.
A great line-up of staff speakers is planned:
- Aimee Clarke, SWT People & Wildlife Manager, who works with local communities and delivers education throughout the county, will talk about the role the Trust plays in inspiring people of all ages to care for and conserve the wildlife of Surrey, through new, innovative approaches including ‘Forest Schools’.
- James Adler, SWT Grazing Manager, who, since 2007, has helped develop herds of over 250 cattle, 50 red deer and 50 goats to graze 3000ha of SWT’s estate, will be giving insight into ‘a year in the life’ of the Trust’s cattle as they go through their breeding, calving and grazing cycle.
- Jim Jones, SWT Wetland Landscapes Officer, aims to deliver the Trust’s Living Landscape vision – ‘a Surrey rich in wildlife and valued by all’ – by working with stakeholders in the catchment of Surrey’s main rivers to help recover otter, water vole and harvest mouse populations. He will talk about how Living Landscapes helps individuals make a positive difference, at landscape scale, through projects including the River Wey Landscape Partnership, the Surrey Harvest Mouse Project and the West Weald Landscape Partnership.
