New 'Smaller Moths of Surrey' Wildlife Atlas
Surrey Wildlife Trust (SWT) is proud to present ‘Smaller Moths of Surrey’ - a wonderful new addition to SWT’s Wildlife Atlas Series of informative and beautifully illustrated specialist species books.
Surrey is probably the richest landlocked county in Britain for micromoths and this wonderful new book details (for the first time) the status and distribution of all the species present in the county. It covers over 1000 different species recorded to date illustrating 132 of them in a series of superb colour photographs. In addition to information on the status and distribution of each species the book also contains chapters on recording, such as using light-traps and various other trapping methods as well as where to find them and how to identify them.
The authors have an unparalleled background in recording Lepidoptera. Bob Palmer has been recording for this atlas since 1990, Jim Porter has maintained an interest in smaller moths for the past 25 years and Graham Collins has studied moths for the past 30 years and has authored two previous books in the Surrey Wildlife Atlas Series on Butterflies and Larger Moths.
Catherine Burton, SWT Biological Records Officer says: “The ‘Smaller Moths of Surrey’ is a superb new addition to the SWT Atlas series. It is the culmination of many years of dedicated work from the authors along with a network of Surrey recorders. The book contains a wealth of information on the County’s micromoths and should prove invaluable to naturalists in Surrey and beyond."
