With the long school holidays looming Surrey Wildlife Trust is launching a brand new children’s holiday club to help keep kids happy, healthy and having fun in the wild this summer.

Wild Explorers Holiday Club is based at the Trust’s new £1.1m woodland education centre at Nower Wood near Leatherhead. Led by the Trust’s energetic education team and jam-packed with wild outdoor activities, the club will run for two weeks in August.

“We will be encouraging children to explore their wild side - introducing them to the fun of campfire cooking, story-telling, shelter building and orienteering, as well as treasure hunts and lots of other craft activities and exciting experiences,” said Aimee Clarke, the Trust’s Director of Education.

“Our new education centre in the safety of our private Nower Wood reserve is the perfect place for children to come and get closer to nature this summer, under the guidance of the Trust’s experienced staff. We hope they will embark on adventures, forge friendships and make summer 2017 the best yet!”

The holiday club will run for two weeks, Monday to Friday, starting on 7th August. Parents can book a whole week for a discounted rate or choose individual days to suit.

Nower Wood Educational Nature Reserve is the Trust’s flagship education centre, which was opened by HRH The Countess of Wessex GCVO in April this year. Nestled in more than 80 acres of ancient woodland, the well-equipped centre offers children the chance to get hands-on experience of wildlife and immerse themselves in nature.

Wild Explorers Holiday Club is suitable for ages 5-12 and children will need to bring their own packed lunch. Each day’s activities run from 9.30am - 4pm. An additional breakfast club is available from 8.30am - 9.30am for children needing to start the day earlier.

Prices start at £35 per day for Trust Members or £40 for Non-Members. Discounts are available for one week block bookings. Breakfast club is an extra £5 per day.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming all our Wild Explorers to our brand new club this summer,” added Aimee. “Why not give your wild things a summer to remember this year – we’d love to see them!”
