Early Years

Large_alan_h_woodland_swt_Children starting their minibeast safari

All our 'Early Years' activities are aimed at 4 to 5 year olds and provide a fantastic introduction to the natural world.

A typical half day….

Arriving at about 10.00a.m, the children are welcomed and introduced to their education leaders. They do their selected activity and leave at about 12.00p.m. They may eat their lunch at the Centre after the session under the supervision of their teachers.

A typical full day….
The children usually arrive at about 10.00a.m, are welcomed and introduced to their education leaders and then split into groups for the morning sessions. At lunch time all groups meet back at the Centre where they eat their packed lunches. Groups swap for the afternoon session to ensure all pupils cover the whole programme. Most schools leave at about 2.15p.m.

Our sessions are always planned and presented with the Health & Safety of the students in mind. The activities instil an awareness of the importance of observation when studying animals and plants in their natural habitats. Students are encouraged to treat the organisms with care and sensitivity. We also emphasise the need to look after our environment. Most importantly we hope you enjoy your day out, and return to school with a better understanding of how we fit into the natural world.
