Haslemere Educational Museum and Surrey Wildlife Trust (SWT) have joined forces to offer a day out to remember for your pupils in the museum and its adjoining nature reserves.

An education officer from SWT will lead one group to the pond where the children will discover what lurks beneath the water’s surface. On returning to the auditorium they will be shown the animals that they captured projected on the big screen and learn how they live, breathe and feed. A member of the museum’s staff will lead another group in an exploration of the treasures displayed in the museum galleries. This can include a treasure hint and art activities.  After a picnic lunch on the museum lawn (indoors if wet), groups will swap over to ensure that no one misses out on the experiences of the day.

During the visit the children will have fun learning about the natural world, both past and present. The day consists of two 1.5 hr sessions focused on the national curriculum attainment levels in a hands-on and fun way.

Booking essential as dates are limited. For more information please contact Kay Topping on 01428 642112.

Our sessions are always planned and presented with the Health & Safety of the students in mind. The activities instil an awareness of the importance of observation when studying animals and plants in their natural habitats. Students are encouraged to treat the organisms with care and sensitivity. We also emphasise the need to look after our environment. Most importantly we hope you enjoy your day out, and return to school with a better understanding of how we fit into the natural world.
