Nower Wood Re-build

Do you have fond memories of Nower Wood? Did you visit as a child and come away inspired by the experience? If so we'd love to hear your story.

Take the classroom into the great outdoors for some fresh air and inspiring science lessons. There's no better way to introduce children to biodiversity than to take them outside to experience it for themselves.

Our aim is to give you a memorable day out on one of our beautiful educational nature reserves in Surrey, where the children learn about nature in a safe, active, fun way. All our sessions instil an awareness of how to treat animals and plants with care and sensitivity and to observe them carefully. We also emphasise the need to look after our environment and see how we fit into the natural world.

All the activities listed and the associated worksheets are presented at the correct level for the children. Our sessions are planned and presented with the health and safety of the children in mind, and led by leaders who are First Aid trained and CRB checked. We offer comprehensive educational programmes covering all Key Stages from Early Years to ‘A’ level. We try to cover all the activities but if there is anything you particularly want, or extensions, please let us know during pre-course liaison.

We also offer Schools' Outreach (assemblies and curriculum-based sessions for children), School Grounds Advice, Adult Education, Environmental Birthday Parties, Uniformed Grouped Sessions (for Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Brownies and Guides), Bat Evenings (in May and September), Fungi Workshops (in October) and Children's Events (at Halloween and Christmas time). Further information can be found using the links on the left.

Testimonials

"Children were engaged and interested the whole day, they learnt so much."
Sarah Tonks, Barnsbury Infant School

"“Excellent knowledge of the woodland ecology, especially useful in meeting coursework criteria” "
Clare Murphy, Head of Sixth Form, Hollyfield School

Our sessions are always planned and presented with the Health & Safety of the students in mind. The activities instil an awareness of the importance of observation when studying animals and plants in their natural habitats. Students are encouraged to treat the organisms with care and sensitivity. We also emphasise the need to look after our environment. Most importantly we hope you enjoy your day out, and return to school with a better understanding of how we fit into the natural world.
