Case Studies

We are proud of our links with developers, architects, schools, businesses and private landowners as well as statutory and non statutory bodies to whom we provide a wide variety of ecological services.

Examples of some of our recent clients are listed below:

Arcadia: Badger Surveys

Our Mammal Officer has worked closely with Arcadia on a number of development projects throughout Surrey. We provide Arcadia with badger surveys, expert advice on mitigation and badger protection and have obtained licenses where appropriate.

Birtley Brook Estate: Surveys & Habitat Management Advice

SWT Ecology Services was commissioned to conduct a suite of ecological surveys at Birtley Brook Estate over a two year period. Surveys included breeding birds, amphibians, reptiles, bats, terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates and small mammals. The findings establish an ecological baseline and informed management of the estate for the benefit of biodiversity.

English Rural Housing Association (ERHA): Ecological Advice

We have been commissioned by ERHA to provide preliminary ecological appraisals, protected species assessments, reptile surveys and Code for Sustainable Home Assessments for a number of development projects.

Reigate and Banstead Borough Council: SNCI Review

SWT Ecology Services were commissioned to undertake surveys of Sites of Nature Conservation Importance (SNCIs), which involved conducting botanical surveys of around 40 sites and comparing the findings against the selection criteria. We are continuing to work with Reigate and Banstead and are establishing a rolling programme of surveying and monitoring of current and potential SNCIs to help them meet their biodiversity duty.

Runnymede Borough Council: Biodiversity Advice

Chertsey Meads:
We are working with Runnymede BC to conduct botanical monitoring and condition assessments of this important hay meadow. We have also produced an in-depth management plan for the site which aims to restore to its former SSSI status.

Runnymede BC commissioned SWT Ecology Services to undertake Phase 1 surveys, protected species and access assessments of the borough's SANGs sites to inform their management in line with SANGs requirements.
