Action for Nature and Wellbeing

Wellbeing and Nature

Science has proved that connection to nature is vital for wellbeing and mental health. Our 'Action for Nature and Wellbeing' day focuses on connecting senior students with nature, helping to improve their wellbeing, and their understanding of how to help nature at school and home.

The session is aimed for up to 30 students in KS3, KS4 and KS5 who would benefit from time spent outdoors. The session cost is £13 per student.

What You Get

One of our team will contact you to gather more details about the booking and confirm the activities that are available for the time of year* you book.

You are welcome to book a time to come for a recce before your visit to familiarise yourself with the site.

On the day you will be welcomed by our staff who will deliver an introductory talk, and then we will head out into the woods for the hands-on activities. The students also get the opportunity to hear from one of the Surrey Wildlife Trust team with some top tips for their future education and careers.

How it Works

The day starts at 09:30 and finishes at 15:30. In between the talks on Surrey Wildlife Trust and careers, students will head out into the ancient woodland in 2 groups to get involved with some of these sessions:

Pond dipping (with video microscope)

Minibeast safari

Mindfulness

Fire lighting

Conservation work (October to March only)

*Activities carried out in the woods depends on the time of year and what is happening on the reserve.
