A new partnership with Woking Football Club

We’re excited to announce a new partnership with Woking Football Club, a historic football club in the heart of Surrey.

Sports clubs sit at the heart of the community, and so working with them is a natural way of influencing more people to take action for nature whilst supporting our mission through financial contribution. Building on our work with local sports clubs, we are delighted to announce that Woking F.C will be joining us as a gold corporate member.

Simon Jones, Business Development Director for Woking FC Says: ‘It’s wonderful to be partnering with the Surrey Wildlife Trust, we recognise the impact that football clubs can have on the local environment and welcome the chance to contribute to nature restoration in Surrey and influence our audience to take action for Nature. Corporate social responsibility, particularly sustainability, will be a huge focus next year, and I am delighted to have Surrey Wildlife Trust’s expertise moving forward’.

As well as a men’s team competing in the National League, Woking F.C have a competitive women’s team and youth academy that develop the next generation of talent. Through their ‘Cardinals in the Community’ programme, Woking F.C deliver a range of programmes focused on a positive impact on education, health, employment, and crime prevention.

Woking FC will be hosting their “Woking Weekender” event on 3rd-5th of May, with donations split between three charities including the Surrey Wildlife Trust. The family focused weekend includes a Legends Match, Gold Cup/90’s Esquire Disco and a huge Pitch Party! We’d love members of SWT to get involved and you can find all the information here: https://www.wokingfc.co.uk/news/article/8489/woking-weekender-launched/ .

Woking FC will also be contributing to our Charity Golf Day on 9th May with donated match day tickets and a hospitality package, all proceeds contributing to our mission. A few team spots are still available, get in touch with Charlie on charles.thefaut@surreywt.org.uk  to find out more!

We wish Woking a strong end to the season and will be cheering them on for the 2024-25 season, with the promised land of promotion to the football league always in sight!
